Collagen Cross Linking

Collagen cross linking is an treatment option for keratoconus available since 2003. It involves applying riboflavin vitamin drops to the cornea and exposing it to controlled ultraviolet A (UVA) rays. This therapy strengthens the cornea, mimicking a natural process of UVA mediated cross linking and prevents further thinning or bulging of the cornea. It is a short procedure and takes less than one hour.
